X-Play is a national-level game development challenge that invites participants to transform innovative ideas into engaging and interactive gaming experiences.
Designed for aspiring game developers, designers, storytellers, and creative thinkers, the competition provides a platform to conceptualise, design, and develop original game prototypes.
Participants will explore the complete game development lifecycle, from ideation and planning to implementation and presentation, while showcasing their creativity, technical expertise, and passion for interactive entertainment.
The event encourages innovation in gameplay, storytelling, design, and user experience, challenging participants to create games that captivate and inspire.
- Structure
Round 1 – Vision Craft
The competition begins with the ideation phase, where participants are required to develop and present a unique game concept. Teams must submit a detailed presentation outlining the core gameplay mechanics, storyline, target audience, visual design approach, technical feasibility, and development roadmap for their proposed game. Submissions will be evaluated based on originality, creativity, feasibility, innovation, and overall presentation quality.Round 2 – GameHive
Qualified teams will proceed to the development phase, where they will transform their proposed concept into a functional game prototype. Participants must implement the core gameplay mechanics, user interface, visual elements, and other essential features that demonstrate the game's functionality and potential. Teams are required to submit their playable build along with supporting documentation detailing the development process, technical implementation, and key design decisions. Evaluation will be based on gameplay experience, technical execution, creativity, innovation, and overall user engagement.Final Evaluation
Submitted prototypes will undergo evaluation by a panel of judges and industry professionals. Teams will be assessed on gameplay quality, originality, design execution, technical implementation, and innovation. - Rules
- Each team must consist of 1–3 participants. A participant can be a member of only one team.
- Teams must submit all deliverables before the specified deadlines; late submissions will not be accepted.
- All game concepts, assets, code, and presentations must be the original work of the participants.
- Plagiarism or unauthorized use of copyrighted material will result in disqualification.
- Teams are free to use any game engine, programming language, or development framework.
- Open-source assets and libraries may be used, provided they are properly credited.
- AI-assisted tools may be used only as development aids and must be declared during submission.
- The developed game should be playable and must align with the submitted concept and presentation.
- Judges' decisions regarding evaluation, scoring, and qualification for subsequent rounds shall be final and binding.
- Participants must maintain professional conduct throughout the event. Any form of misconduct, cheating, or offensive content in submissions may lead to immediate disqualification.
- Teams are responsible for ensuring that their game and presentation files are compatible with the prescribed submission format.
- Organizers reserve the right to modify the schedule or event format in case of unforeseen circumstances.
